Annual Service Trip 2018

This year, we decided to continue the legacy and embark on a new “Free by Three” mission. As the first year of the project, we decided to visit the Sindhuli Region of Nepal where we were assigned to teach in 3 schools over the course of 5 days.
Before the departure, our volunteers were allocated into 3 groups, each planning for their respective school assigned. The groups came up with detailed lesson plans to teach the students and prepared the materials immaculately beforehand. During our 5 days of teaching, we helped local teachers in their English lessons in the morning, and conducted different extra-curricular activities in the afternoon. We tried to introduce different teaching methods, for example, Mastery Teaching and using spin-off activities with respective to textbook topics. The extra-curricular activities also spanned a wide range of topics, including Chemistry, Music and Art, etc.
The trip was definitely a meaningful and unforgettable experience for all of us, and we hope, also for the students. Although our trip to Sindhuli was short, we agreed among us that our role in the first year of the three-year plan is to cause the ripple, and that we have achieved this aim seeing how the students and teachers react to our teaching. We hope our visit will continue to make a lasting impact and inspire the students and teachers to continue working hard in their own roles to improve the quality of education in long term.
