When considering overall education
with regards to human development, early education is of paramount importance.
A child’s early years are the foundation on which their future is built. A high
standard of learning at an early age provides a strong base for lifelong learning
which includes both cognitive and social development. It can be though of as a
building block of future success. This particular phase of education usually
follows kindergarten and precedes secondary schooling.

An education at this level usually
concentrates on the fundamental skills such as reading, writing and arithmetic
before commencing the secondary stage where education is more
subject-orientated. Studies have also shown that education at this age helps
decrease poverty and child mortality. It also leads to a more understanding
society where gender equality and racial acceptance are the norm. It also
increases environmental awareness.

It is at this age that children are taught basic safety rules. They are taught how to play sports and use any necessary equipment correctly. Water safety lessons and the ability to swim are important lessons for this age group. Safety instructions regarding matches and other flammable items are of paramount importance to ensure lifelong well being when using these materials throughout their lives. Road safety rules can also be taught at this age to ensure incident free road use.

A good education at this stage of
life helps a person gain knowledge and gain confidence which remains throughout
their lifetime. It helps the growth both personally and career wise. It is
without limit and should be available to all ass a birth rite. A good education
helps us decide right from wrong and helps build strong morals which, in turn,
make us more acceptable to the society in which we live. Encouraging children
at this age to write essays and participate in debates expands the mind and
prepares it for absorbing more knowledge in late life.

A good fundamental education at this age will lead to better opportunities in later life when choosing a career. A well-educated person has a better chance of gaining employment which offers a high level of remuneration. Education is necessary if we want to finally rid the world of discrimination of both gender and social classes. It makes the next generation more aware of the lack of opportunities for the poorer classes and for girls.  Education also helps us understand the difference between right and wrong as well as making us aware of the consequences of morally wrong or illegal actions. It also increases our confidence which makes it possible for us to be heard and taken seriously in many important matters. We fit into our society with a good education as we can join in discussions without fear or ignorance of the subject matter.

Take a look at some of the countries
which are widely regarded as prosperous. Most of these countries have a very
high literacy rate and often have a high per capita income.  Whilst developing countries have a lower
literacy rate and therefore are often considered to be third world status.

When you consider some of these
facts, it is easy to understand why a higher
standard of learning directly affects children of ages 4-11.
