IEP Meeting for My Son: What to Expect and How to Prepare – Autism Cambodia

I’m so excited to finally have an appointment with the school to set up an IEP for my son. I’ve been working with his teachers and the school district for a few months now, and I’m finally feeling like we’re making some progress.
I know that IEP meetings can be intimidating, but I’m determined to be prepared. Here are a few things I’m doing to get ready:

Gathering information. I’m collecting all of the relevant paperwork, including my son’s educational records, test scores, and any other documentation that might be helpful. I’m also taking notes on his strengths and weaknesses, as well as any goals I have for him.
Researching the IEP process. I’m reading up on the IEP process so that I understand what to expect. I’m also learning about my rights as a parent of a child with special needs.
Practicing my talking points. I’m thinking about what I want to say at the meeting. I want to be clear and concise about my son’s needs, and I want to advocate for the best possible education for him.

I’m feeling a little nervous about the meeting, but I’m also excited. I know that this is an important step in ensuring that my son gets the support he needs to succeed.
